It was established in its present location in the 1950s, with our present building\u00a0being opened in 1958. A church hall was added later.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>The principal service is at 11.00 am on Sundays and has a time of worship, Bible teaching and communion. We hold prayer meetings in the Church every other Tuesday morning with House Groups held on the alternating weeks. The Church has facilities for Sunday school and young people\u2019s classrooms, and the Church Hall is used for events such as church lunches, the toddlers club and youth activities. There is level access into the church, and a disabled toilet with baby-change facilities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Covid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>To maintain covid safety all chairs in the Church are spaced 2m apart, unless sitting in a family pod. Wearing face masks is optional but can be removed while at your seat. There is hand gel in the Church foyer, to be used on entering and leaving the Church.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>House Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>We have now restarted our House Group meetings after halting them due to Covid.\u00a0The House Groups are held every other Tuesday Mornings and Wednesday afternoons.\u00a0<\/p><p>At these house meetings, we discuss in small groups varies Bible topics and moral issues.\u00a0Everyone is welcome, provided they have received a double Covid vaccination.\u00a0<\/p><p>Details of times and venues can be obtained by calling Keith on 01727 828458.\u00a0Or email <a href=\"mailto:ksimpson1@hotmail.co.uk\">ksimpson1@hotmail.co.uk<\/a>\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maisha Orphanage in Kenya<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Alexander Church regularly sponsors a child at the Maisha Orphanage near Nairobi in Kenya. This is a small orphanage for around 20 children who have been rescued from living on the streets of Nairobi. The children are all looked after and given education as well as being taught the scriptures.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>London Colney Food Bank<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Alexander Church actively supports the London Colney Food Bank that is run by \u2018London Colney Churches Together.\u2019 The Food Bank is open between 10.00 \u2013 11.00am every second and fourth Monday on each month and its distribution point is The London Colney Baptist Church in Kings Road. Members from our church regularly help in serving the food parcels.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP &#8211; The St Albans &amp; Harpenden Work<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Alexander Church is pleased to support the work of STEP. This is a team of dedicated Christian teachers and helpers who go into nearly every secondary school in St. Albans &amp; Harpenden to conduct school assemblies, to take R.I. lessons and to provide counselling to pupils etc.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>History The church was founded by London Colney villagers over seventy years ago as an independent free\u00a0evangelical church.
